Hands-On Conservation at Victoria Falls

🦏There are many ways to experience Africa, but very few allow you to become part of its protection. The conservation journeys I recommend stand out for their authenticity, impact and accessibility.

Set within the Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve, 4,000 hectares of wilderness in Zimbabwe, just minutes from the iconic Victoria Falls, this programme offers a rare opportunity to step directly into the daily reality of conservation work.
It is run by a dedicated conservation team in collaboration with the reserve’s management, which has a strong commitment to community engagement.
The reserve is home to the famous Big Five and the rare giant sable antelope, as well as an abundant variety of bird species.
Moreover, it is a remarkable success story because, starting in 2000, it became an Intensive Protection Zone for the reintroduction of the rare black rhinoceros to the area, where poaching in the 1980s had wiped it out.

Real work for the ecosystem...
🌱This is not a safari, it is participation on many levels.
In fact, around 80% of your time is spent in the reserve, actively contributing to the protection of its wildlife and restoration of its land. The remaining 20% connects you with the nearby community - supporting school projects, sustainable food initiatives, and local development efforts: because in Africa conservation is never isolated from people.
Like every project I choose to support, this experience changes your understanding of conservation, by creating a deeper connection to the environment and to the challenges conservation faces today.

Busy weeks but also fun at the Falls!
The programme runs year-round, with flexible stays. Whatever the length of the stay - from 2 to 12 weeks are possible -, every week includes several tasks: monitoring wildlife and assisting with game counts, removing snares to support anti-poaching efforts, maintaining waterholes, visiting and supporting school projects, taking part in sustainable food initiatives.

I recommend a 2 to 3 week stay. New participants begin the programme on mondays. The weekly schedule runs from Monday to Friday and activities are adapted, as far as possible, to each participant’s skills and interests, while remaining subject to weather conditions and the movements and behaviour of wildlife. The day begins at 6:30 am, with a break between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, and activities continue until around 7:00 pm.

Accommodation is provided at the programme’s main camp, which includes 20 fully furnished private rooms.
On weekends there is the opportunity to explore one of the most extraordinary natural wonders on Earth, the Victoria Falls, and to discover the nearby vibrant town of Victoria Falls by joining many cultural and adventure activities facilitated by the reserve.
If you are based in France or Italy and feel drawn to this experience, I would be happy to introduce you to the programme: this is part of my work as an ambassador for conservation-oriented travel and experiences that truly support wildlife protection and local communities.
Once you are introduced and your dates are confirmed, all arrangements are made directly with the organisation. Feel free to contact me to explore if this journey is right for you!
